Seasonal Fruit Savoury Dessert Recipe or Panjamirtham

Seasonal Fruit Savoury Dessert RecipeLet it be Red Apples and Green Grapes from Northern or Southern Hemisphere, Guava and Pineapple from the Tropics – all of them are seasonal fruit.

At times, it can be hard to execute certain recipes due to its unavailability or only frozen ingredients are available at that point of time.

Here I am going to write a recipe told by my aunt in India. In India they usually call it as “Panjamirtham” in Tamil.

Panjamirtham is sweet and delicious due to the fruit ingredients used in making it. Varieties of fruit can be changed according to the fruit season and can be done in all 4 seasons.

Panjamirtham Ingredients A:

1/4 Teaspoon nutmeg powder
1 Tablespoon Ghee
3 Cloves
2 Tablespoon Honey
2 Tablespoon Jaggery
1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
Half pinch salt to taste
1 Guava half ripe – Sliced
1 Fuji Red Apples – Sliced
1/4 Ripe Pineapple – Sliced
15 Seedless Green Grapes
10 Cashew nuts
10 raisins

Panjamirtham Ingredients B – Blend Together:

1 Guava half ripe
1 Fuji Red Apples
1/4 Ripe Pineapple
15 Seedless Green Grapes

Method:
Heat the cooking pan and add ghee. Add nutmeg powder, cloves to the ghee and stir. Add all the sliced fruits from Ingredient A and stir together. Then add honey and Jaggery to the mixture.  After that, add in the Ingredient B blended fruit paste. Let the mixture cook and become tender fruits. Finally, add lemon juice and salt to taste. Serve the dessert recipe with cashew nuts and raisins garnished.
