Chestnuts Health Benefits and Medicinal Uses

Chestnut is also known as Castanea by its scientific name. There are 4 species of chestnuts which are European, Chinese, Japanese and American chestnuts. Chestnuts are usually found on the ground around chestnut tree.

Chestnut is consumed after being stir fried with shell in coffee and salt in South east Asia.

Medicinal and Health Benefits of Chestnuts
 
- Chestnut contains no cholesterol.
- Chestnut is the only nut which contains Vitamin C.
- Chestnut has starch twice as much as potato and can be a good replacement for carbohydrate food.
